Terraform plan explainer

Paste a JSON plan or the text summary. The explanation runs in this browser. Resource values are not shown and the plan is not sent to the server.

The plan is read in this browser. It is not uploaded and it is not stored. Values inside the plan are not shown.

How to use it

  1. Paste the output of terraform show -json, or the text plan from the terminal.
  2. Read creates, in-place updates, replacements and destroys. Replacements and destroys are the lines to review.
  3. Attribute names that differ are listed for a JSON plan. The values are left out on purpose.

Questions

Is the plan uploaded?
Not from this page. The summary is computed in the browser. The JSON API can summarise a plan for a script, and it does not store it.
Will this apply the plan?
No. It only reads the text you pasted.
Why are values hidden?
Plans often contain passwords, keys and customer data. The summary names the resources and the attributes that change.

An automated client can POST JSON to /api/tools/terraform-plan with the fields listed in the OpenAPI document. The OpenAPI document is at /api/tools, with a short guide at /llms.txt. Nothing submitted is stored.
