AWS account review

AWS account review: an expert second opinion for founders and business owners.

Your business runs on AWS, but it is hard to know whether it is secure, whether you are overpaying, and whether it will hold up on a bad day. I am a senior external DevOps and platform contractor. I join your team and account quickly, run a full AI-assisted review, and walk you through what I find in plain language.

Works whether or not you already have DevOps staff.

Free

Start with a free 60-minute infrastructure review.

You give me an hour. I look at your cloud setup, your deployment pipeline and your architecture, and send you a written, prioritised list of savings and quick wins. Yours to keep, whether we work together or not.

  • Cloud setup and cost review
  • Pipeline and deployment health
  • Architecture risks and quick wins

You deal with me directly, David, the engineer. No account managers, no hand-offs.

What the review covers

Five areas that decide whether your AWS account is an asset or a liability.

Security

Who and what can access your account, how keys and secrets are handled, what is exposed to the internet, and whether logging would tell you if something went wrong.

Cost

Where the money goes each month, idle or oversized resources, and changes that lower the bill without putting the product at risk.

Reliability

Backups, single points of failure, scaling behaviour and what happens to your customers when a server, a container or a whole zone has a bad day.

CI/CD

How code gets from a developer to production, whether the image you think you deployed is the one actually running, and the checks that stop bad changes.

Monitoring

Alerts, logs and dashboards: whether the right person hears about a problem before your customers do.

How it works

  1. 1

    Book a call

A 30-minute call about your business, your AWS setup and what is worrying you. If a review is not what you need, I will say so.

  2. 2

I join your team and account

You add me to your team and give me access to the AWS account. We agree the scope and access up front, and I can usually start within days.

  3. 3

    Full AI-assisted analysis

I use AI tooling to cover the whole account quickly across security, cost, reliability, CI/CD and monitoring. Every finding is checked by me before it reaches you.

  4. 4

    Walkthrough of the findings

I take you through what I found in plain language, ranked by risk and effort, with a written list of findings for you and your team.

  5. 5

    Optional: fixes and ongoing maintenance

If you want help acting on it, I can make the fixes myself or work alongside your team, and then keep the account healthy on an ongoing basis.

Already have DevOps people? Good.

A review is not a judgement on your team. It is a fresh pair of senior eyes that you, as the owner, can trust to give you a straight answer.

  • I work with your engineers, not around them
  • Findings are shared with your team so they can act on them
  • You get an independent view of risk and spend
  • Your team can keep ownership of every fix if you prefer

Pricing

Fixed-price review, ask for a quote.

You know the cost before any work starts. Fixes and ongoing maintenance are optional and quoted separately.

Questions

We already have a DevOps engineer or team. Is this still useful?
Yes. This is a second opinion, not a replacement. I work alongside your people, share the findings with them, and it is common for an outside reviewer to spot things a busy team has stopped seeing.
I am not technical. Will I understand the results?
That is the point of the walkthrough. Each finding comes with what it means for the business, how urgent it is and roughly what it takes to fix.
What does "AI-assisted" mean here?
AI tools help me get through a whole account much faster than a manual review. They do not make the calls: I check every finding and decide what matters for your business.
What does it cost?
The review is fixed-price, so you know the cost before we start. Ask for a quote on the call or by email.
Who will I be dealing with?
David Sampson, a senior external DevOps and platform contractor working with AWS, EKS, Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring and cloud cost. No account managers, no hand-offs.
